Ogden City and the Public Ways & Parks Division is committed to creating and maintaining an environmentally and aesthetically pleasing community.  One of the ways we are working at obtaining this goal is through the Urban Forestry Division.

The Urban Forestry Division consists of one Urban Forester and two maintenance technicians who maintain all the trees throughout the city.  These trees are located on Public Property and in the park strips located between the sidewalk and curb.  They also develop the guidelines for what types of trees may be planted throughout the city.  The guidelines  help maintain the beauty of our streets and protect our sidewalks and utilities.

The City of Ogden has maintained Tree City USA status for 21 consecutive years.  Each year, Tree City USA gives out this award to cities across the United States who have met the following criteria:

• Hosts an Arbor Day Celebration
• Maintains a forestry ordinance (arboriculture regulations)
• Budgets at least $2.00 per capita
• Has an active Forestry Committee

Ogden City has met or exceeded these requirements for the last 21 years consecutively.

Please remember  a permit is required for all planting, trimming and removal of trees located on public property and in the park strips.  This permit is free to Ogden City residents and is required to insure proper precautions are being taken and also to help keep current urban forestry records.  You can call the Ogden City Public Ways & Parks Division at 629-8284 for more information.
