Development Review Process
The purpose of the Development Review process is to protect the safety and health of Ogden citizens by providing code compliant reviews of construction plans as well as inspections of commercial, residential and business properties for compliance with building codes, state laws and city ordinances. The Development Review process is described in detail in section 15-4 of the Ogden City municipal code. Prior to undertaking a project, property owners and developers are encouraged to visit the Development Service Center to obtain pertinent information relating to their proposal, as processes often require Planning Commission and City Council approval.
Steps in the Process
The Development Review process consists of the following steps:
- Review of subdivision and/or site plans
- Review of associated sub-plans, including plans for building, electrical, mechanical and/or plumbing
- Issuance of applicable permits
- Inspection of permitted work
- Issuance of a certificate of occupancy upon the completion of work and a final inspection
Fees
There are many factors that determine a building permit fee and plan review fees. Use Table 1-A of the 1997 Uniform Administrative Code and as outlined in section 16-1-4 of the Ogden City municipal code to assess the fees. Please contact the appropriate Ogden City staff for further clarification on the City's development review process and associated requirements.
