The world’s best professional cyclists will gather in Ogden for the first and third stages of the 2012 Tour of Utah on August 7 and 9.
Ogden will kick-off this six-day race with a 131.6-mile road stage, day activities for all ages, and a Worldwide on 25 Celebration. The Tour will return to Ogden again two days later for the third stage start. Motorists can expect road closures as cyclists travel on various Ogden streets during the cycling event.
On August 7 Ogden invites the public to celebrate with activities for all ages including a mayoral community fun ride, bike jousting, a bike rodeo, a helmet giveaway for children and the GOAL Foundation Kid’s Zone activity area. The Historic 25th Street Association will host the Worldwide on 25 Celebration that evening at 5pm. Festivities kick off with a parade of nations while Ogden restaurants and international dancers line the streets for an interactive culinary and performing art celebration.
Two days later on August 9 the elite cyclists return to Ogden for the Stage 3 start beginning at 11am in the Junction, located in front of the Salomon Center. Cyclists will climb North Ogden divide for a second time in three days, travel through Huntsville and pass Snowbasin Resort en route to the finish line in Salt Lake City.
