New Trail Cat Purchased for Ogden and Surrounding Areas
New Trail Cat Purchased for Ogden and Surrounding AreasFriday, September 28, 2012 With the help of Weber County RAMP funding, Ogden City Public Ways and Parks has recently purchased a new piece of equipment that will help in the maintenance of existing trails and the building of new trails. The Sutter 500 Trail Dozer was purchased by Ogden but will be made available to surrounding communities with an Equipment Use Agreement to help them build and active-lifestyle community for their residents. |
Both residents and visitors of Ogden take advantage of the many outdoor recreation activities that our beautiful city boasts year-round. One of the most unique outdoor recreation activities in our area, and also one of the most utilized is our trail system. The trails that have been developed are home to many hikers, bikers, joggers and walkers. There are trails that the most experienced enthusiasts would call challenging and trails that are easy and fun for the entire family. In an effort to ensure that these great trails are maintained and that connecting trails are installed to help tie the entire system together, Ogden City has purchased a new trail cat.
With the help of Weber County RAMP funding, a new Sutter 500 trail dozer was purchased by the Public Ways and Parks Division. This very vital piece of equipment in maintaining and building trails comes with the new technology of an environmentally friendly tier-4 diesel motor. This motor helps dramatically reduce emissions while the machine is in operation making it a wonderful choice for our area. Not only will Ogden benefit from the purchase of the trail cat, but with the addition of Equipment Use Agreements, many of the surrounding communities will now have access to this machine and can develop trails in their respective areas more easily.
For more information regarding the new trail cat, equipment use agreements or for information about the trails network, please call the Public Ways and Parks Division at 801.629.8271. Trail location and facts, as well as, information on other recreation opportunities can also be found on our website at www.ogdencity.com.
