Traffic Signal Upgrades UnderwayTuesday, October 16, 2012 The Ogden City Engineering Division is pleased to announce that a new project is underway that will positively affect motorist and pedestrians throughout the city. Upgrades to the traffic signal lights have begun and include the installation of new sensors and pedestrian push buttons. These upgrades will decrease the wait time at traffic lights for motorists during off-peak hours and will increase ease of use for pedestrians. |
The Ogden City Engineering Division has just begun work on a project that will upgrade traffic signals throughout the city. Many of the existing traffic lights have old components that are in need of replacement. If you have ever been stuck at a traffic light late at night, the new traffic sensors will recognize vehicles and adjust the signals accordingly. Pedestrian push buttons are being upgraded to the latest standards for ease of use and accessibility. Currently these upgrades have been selected for certain test areas within the City. If successful, Ogden City will look to implement these upgrades in other areas.
We appreciate the patience of the residents as we work to make Ogden City’s vehicular and pedestrian traffic friendlier. If traffic signals are down during a replacement, use caution when proceeding through the intersection. Please be mindful of construction work near intersections as safety is our utmost concern.
The Signal Replacement Contract was awarded to Hidden Peak Electric Company. The award price was $101,000. Funding for the project was made possible by Ogden City.
