Ogden City employs one Fire Marshal and two Deputy Fire Marshals to perform both investigative and preventive measures. They respond to, investigate, and prepare reports for fire incidents to determine both cause and origin. They coordinate with law enforcement providing arson investigation services for fires that are deemed suspicious. They also appear in court as expert witnesses for arson-related prosecutions.
Community Education
Community education is an important part of fire prevention. The Ogden City Fire Department delivers many presentations to public forums and neighborhood groups educating them on fire prevention measures. They also appear at Ogden City schools and other functions promoting good fire and life safety practices through programs such as the Juvenile Firesetter Education Program and the Boots and Bunker Clowns.
Involvement during Development
The Fire Prevention Division provides a wide variety of services related to the new construction and reconstruction of properties and buildings. These services include site plan reviews, fire sprinkler and alarm plan reviews, on-site inspections and testing of these systems for acceptance, and periodic ongoing reinspections to insure code compliance is maintained.
