Council-Mayor Form of Government:
Ogden City operates under a Council-Mayor form of government. This form of local government follows the ideal of "separation of power" set forth by the framers of the Constitution, which vests the City government in separate, independent and equal branches of government:
- An executive branch consisting of the Mayor and the administrative departments
- A legislative branch consisting of the City Council and its staff

The Office of Ogden City Attorney provides legal services to the Mayor, City Council and the various operating departments on all legal matters affecting the City. Additionally, the criminal division of the City Attorney's office prosecutes all infractions and misdemeanors under City ordinances or state law.
