Geographic Information Systems

The G.I.S. line of business is responsible for building and maintaining tools and databases which enable the City to collect, understand, and analyze the spatial relationships among things that exist and occur in a given location (such as water pipes and valves, pavement and sidewalk, utility poles, and signs) or cover a specific geographic area (such as an address, parcel of land, or Zone). The results of geographic analysis can be communicated with maps, reports, or both. GIS data and capabilities are used at the City to inform decision makers and planners, help deliver services to the public, dispatch Police and Fire personnel, and manage City assets.
