Arts Organizations
Many other organizations provide art for our community. We must also think of their art as a gift. Art is omnipresent in many forms - dance, design, folk arts, literary arts, media, music, theater, and the visual arts - and includes the art of forming words, notes, movement, and strokes of a pen or brush to express our thoughts and feelings and to communicate these to an audience of one/few (intimate) or many (communal). Art affects all who are curious and open to new experiences. Art, in some form, is provided by the following in our community:
- Ogden Concert Band - officially sanctioned group of musicians
- Peery's Egyptian Theater - a partnership of Ogden, Weber County, Weber State University, the Chamber Ogden*Weber, and the Egyptian Theater Foundation to restore the Egyptian Theater and build the Center as a downtown Ogden performing arts venue. Peery's Egyptian Theater received a National Preservation Award for the restoration of this 1924 architectural gem that provides an 800-seat community auditorium that is home to Utah Musical Theatre. They sponsor the culturally diverse Great Performances Series and a Film Series. The Sundance Film Festival presents several films in this Theater each year.
