Ogden City has an automated refuse collection and recycling program. Household waste and recyclable materials are picked up curbside weekly. Our trucks are designed to pick up both household gabage and recyclable materials by utilizing a split bed or a divided bed truck. For information on our recycling program, click here: Recycle
- If your cart(s) are stolen, call the Police Department at 629-8221 to report the incident. The Police Department's representative will issue you a case number, which you will need to refer to. You will need to have your container numbers, so keep them handy. After you have the police report number, you should then call 629-8271. They will replace your cart(s) at no additional charge within 2-5 business days.
- If your cart has minor wear and tear damage like a wheel or handle broken, call us at 629-8271 and we will repair it free of charge within 2-5 business days.
- If your garbage cart(s) is damaged as a result of your neglect, or misuse (dumping hot ashes, punctures, etc.), the City will provide you with replacement cart(s). The cost of the replacement carts are $55.72 for a 60-70 gallon cart and $65.85 for a 90-100 gallon cart

HOW DO I GET A CART REPLACED?
WHAT IF I NEED ASSISTANCE?
If you are elderly or disabled and can't get your refuse carts to the curb, we can help. Our operators will get your container to the curb, dump it, and return it to your yard. To receive this special service, you must provide us with a doctor's statement showing you are physically unable to move the container. The Refuse supervisor will approve or deny each individual request, based on the needs of each individual.
WHAT HAPPENS TO GARBAGE COLLECTION ON HOLIDAYS?
On certain holidays garbage collection will be delayed because the Weber County Transfer Station is closed. In these instances, the holiday, and every day after the holiday for the remainder of that week, will have garbage collection delayed one day. Above is a list of holidays observed by Ogden City and the impact on the garbage collection service schedule. If you have any questions about this information, please call 629-8271, or E-mail the Solid Waste Supervisor.
WHAT IF MY GARBAGE PICKUP IS MISSED?
If you have your garbage out by 6:30 a.m. on your regular collection day, and it isn't picked up by 2:30 p.m., chances are it has been missed. Please wait until after 2:30 to call about missed garbage pickup since the garbage routes are not always run in the same order and could be picked up earlier or later than usual.
If your garbage is missed, call us at 629-8271 or 629-8338. We will go back for it either that day, or the next morning. Our drivers keep a list of carts that are not out when they go by, and they are not required to return for a cart that was not out by 6:30 a.m.
SOME THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW (Ogden City Ordinance No. 2002-30)
Overfilled Carts:If you overfill your cart and the attached lid won't close completely, the Refuse Section may replace your cart with a larger cart, or deliver you an additional cart. After that, you will be billed the extra charge for any additional or larger cart. You will need to keep the bigger cart, or the extra cart for at least 12 months.
Prohibited Materials: If you put unapproved or prohibited materials in your garbage or recyling cart, the Refuse Section may remove your cart(s), and terminate your service, in whole or in part. If only recycling services are terminated, you will still receive regular garbage and refuse services, with no reduction in monthly charges, but will not be allowed to obtain another recycling cart for the following twelve months.
Scavenging Prohibited: It is against the law to tamper with any cart or it's contents, remove the contents of any automatic cart, or move an automatic cart from the location where the same has been placed for collection.
