CRIME REDUCTION SQUAD
During the past six years 24 percent of reported offenses in Ogden City occurred in the area of 20th street to 30th street between Washington Blvd. and Harrison Blvd. In an effort to reduce criminal activity and improve the quality of life in this community, the Police Department implemented a Crime Reduction Squad on November 3rd, 2007. This squad consists of 1 sergeant and five uniformed officers who devote their full time attention to policing this area. The squad is supervised by Lieutenant Mike Ashment in the Uniform Division.
The mission will be accomplished through the following goals and objectives:
Goal #1: Increase Monitoring of Parolees and Habitual Offenders.
A. Partner with Adult Probation and Parole to identify high risk offenders living in the area and increase the
level of supervision and number of home visits to ensure compliance with terms and conditions of parole.
B. Increase surveillance of habitual offenders and aggressively enforce all laws and ordinances.
C. Partner with Community Policing Bureau to enhance enforcement of The Good Landlord Ordinance.
Goal #2: Increase Monitoring of Juvenile Offenders and Gangs.
A. Increase curfew enforcement.
B. Partner with Metro Gang Unit to identify gang members, increase surveillance, and aggressively enforce all
laws and ordinances.
C. Partner with Juvenile Court and Youth Corrections to identify high risk juvenile offenders living in the area and
substantially increase the level of supervision and number of home visits to ensure compliance with terms and
conditions of juvenile probation.
Goal #3: Decrease Street Level Drug Activity.
A. Partner with Strike Force to identify neighborhood drug houses and increase the number of drug investigations
and arrests.
Goal #4: Improve Safety and Quality of Life.
A. Increase noise ordinance violation enforcement.
B. Increase traffic and DUI enforcement.
C. Increase public intoxication enforcement.
D. Increase disorderly conduct enforcement.
E. Increase prostitution enforcement.
Goal #5: Identify and Arrest Offenders Sooner.
A. Increase informant base.
B. Share information and work with other bureaus to focus resources.
C. Use crime analysis and forecasting for directed patrol and surveillance.
