Larceny Crime Prevention Tips

Keep all doors and windows locked.  If the weather is warm and you normally leave you doors open for ventilation, lock the screen door.

Keep outdoor lighting on at night or install motion detectors.

Keep landscaping trimmed and away from windows and doors to avoid providing a hiding place for perpetrator.  If you have window wells, keep shrubbery trimmed or away from them all together.

Report any suspicious activity in your neighborhood to your local Police Department.

Advertise your security alarm system by placing signs in visible locations.

Write down the license plate numbers of suspicious vehicles in your neighborhood.

When carrying packages or valuable items store then in your trunk if possible.  If your do leave packages, clothing, or other articles in the car, make sure they are out of sight.

Lock all bicycles with a case-hardened chain or cable and lock, winding the cable through the frame and both wheels, and then around a fixed object.
