Ogden City Police Department

Motor Unit

The Motor Unit has been a great addition to the Ogden City Police Department and has been a useful tool in our efforts to be an effective community oriented police department. The primary focus of the unit is to reduce traffic collisions and injuries through preventative patrols and traffic safety activities.  To accomplish these goals constant enforcement is needed.
The Motor Unit is also used for parades and downtown activities: street festivals, charity runs, rodeos, special escorts and traffic control.  Officers riding with the Police Motor Unit can quickly gain access to areas such as parks and trails.  The motorcycles are outfitted with emergency lights, sirens, police radios and radar units.
Being on a motorcycle makes officers more accessible to citizens during patrols.  Many citizens, especially children, like to ask questions about the motorcycle. This type of personal contact allows officers an opportunity to improve public relations and to inquire about citizen’s concerns that the Police Department could help resolve.
