Become an Ogden Police Officer

Qualifications  

The minimum requirements to become an Ogden City Police Officer are as follows:

  1. Graduation from high school or possession of GED certificate.
  2. Must be a U.S. Citizen on/by the date of the first examination.
  3. Must be at least 21 years of age by the date of hire.
  4. Successful completion of testing process which may include physical agility test, written examination, oral board interviews, background investigation, psychological examination and evaluation, interview, and medical examination and drug screen.
  5. Successful completion of Utah P.O.S.T. exam prior to designated application deadline.
  6. Graduation from Peace Officers Standards and Training Academy within six (6) months of hire.
  7. Considerable human relations and communications skills.
  8. Ability to work independently, make critical decisions, and use initiative and common sense.
  9. Must have valid Utah Driver License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.

Hiring Benefits



The following incentives and bonuses are available for 2019 year.

  • Initial Signing Bonus:
    $2,000
  • Loyalty Program:
    Up to $105,000 in Bonuses over 35 Years
  • Lateral Year-for-Year Transfer:
    Up to step 11
  • Annual Education Bonus:
    $3,000 for Master, $2,000 for Bachelor, $1,000 for Associate
  • Take-Home Car Policy:
    Up to 40 miles Outside of Ogden City
  • Shift Differential Pay:
    2.5% Afternoon, 5% Graveyard
  • Spanish Speaking Incentive:
    $100 per month
  • Initial Clothing Stipend:
    $1,100
